From Pain to Purpose
I’m Joey Koontz—a man who’s been broken, built back up, and deeply changed by the grace of Jesus Christ. I’ve faced cancer, doubt, setbacks, and seasons where I didn’t think I could keep going. But through it all, I’ve discovered something more valuable than comfort, success, or status: a real relationship with Christ. That relationship grounds me daily, not because I have it all figured out, but because I know who holds my life.
I don’t measure my worth by what I’ve accomplished or how I perform. My identity isn’t in titles, achievements, or the opinions of others. It’s in Christ alone. He is my anchor, my example, and the One I’m chasing—every single day. Some days it feels like a battle, but it’s worth every step because the ultimate prize isn’t here—it’s eternity with Him.
I’m passionate about learning. I never want to stop growing, especially when it comes to becoming a better husband, father, friend, and servant. My purpose is simple: to love others well and serve with humility, even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard.
I’ve been married to my best friend, Bobbie, for over three decades. She’s the heart behind everything I do and the strongest woman I know. We have a son, Alex, who makes me proud every day, along with his wonderful wife Brittany. And if you know me at all, you know my love for our pets runs deep—those four-legged companions are part of the family, no question.
If there’s one thing I want you to know, it’s this: I’m not perfect, but I’m present. I’m showing up with love, listening with empathy, and trying to live out what I believe. Life’s not about avoiding pain—it’s about trusting God through it.
